Just a few moments of joy that took place at the Lundby house today.

She added a backpack to hold a cd player, however the headphones didn't fit over the sunglasses so she hung them around her neck and cranked the volume. And her "volume" was just as loud. Oh, happiness!

A few moments of joy, a few moments that made me smile (and even giggle a bit). I really love these moments!  

We're looking forward to a summer of joyful moments like these! One more week and the kids will be home. Yay!!

Just a glimpse of what's going on at the Lundby Hive...

We've been keeping a close eye on our mama duck... she's been sitting on eggs for awhile now... it's possible that we may have ducklings any day now.

And this was the scene in our living room the other day. Oh, you know... just another ordinary day at the Lundby Hive! :)

Sunny in Seattle

Last week-end Erik and I went to Seattle for a work-related conference.

 

As part of the conference, we ate lunch on a "Duck" as we enjoyed a little tour of Seattle.

It was a fun little ride... we saw some cool boats in the water.

 We saw some cool things on land. 

It was a good thing we had just seen the Space Needle, because when we got back to the conference, we had a little "team-building exercise" and for our first task we had to build a tower. So, with a limited amount of legos and time, we whipped up a little Space Needle of our own, complete with random street art, a tree and a stoplight.

 At 69 1/2" tall. We won! Yeah! Nothing like a little competitve lego building to build team spirit!

We had about a hour and a half of free time on Saturday and since it was sunny in Seattle, (yeah I know, it was sunny!!) we headed towards Pike's Place and I snapped a few photos.

Some stranger stepped in and saved the day (we tried a stretch your arm out photo and well, let's just day it didn't work) and took our picture.

 On Sunday morning we met up with my cousin Eno for brunch and she gave us a little tour of "her" monorail.

We got a tour of the facility and she noticed something that was a little loose, so she tinkered and got it all fixed up. 

And then we rode on Eno's monorail. ;) Thanks for the tour Eno, we really enjoyed it and as always, it was great to see you!

We had a nice time in Seattle. The conference was good and it gave us an excuse to get away just the two of us. However, we're looking forward to going back and exploring Seattle, just the four of us... and we hope to see Eno too. :)

Thanks to Catherine and Liz for keeping our kiddos. They said they had a good time! I asked Deacon what it was like having mommy and daddy gone and his reply was, "I hardly noticed." After I laughed, I was relieved by his response, I'm glad it wasn't too hard for him and I'm glad that he felt comfortable with the Greens. I'm so thankful for good friends!

Too quiet...

After having houseguests for 27 out of the past 37 days, this house seems a little too quiet with just the four of us...  the quiet seems a little weird. I know we'll get back into the routine of our life again soon, yet I find myself really missing the bustling activity of small children in the house.

First, we hosted Erik's parents and then 10 days later we hosted Erik's sister, her husband and three children. We are so grateful that they all made the trip from Minnesota to see us.

Those Lundby's and Allrich's sure know how to pack a lot of activity into a vacation... I kept up, but was stunned at the pace they can keep... I dubbed it "Another Yellowstone Vacation" (referrring to our vacation with them last summer and their incredibly high "vacation stamina"). We did a lot of hiking, sightseeing, eating, visiting... and there certainly was not a shortage of laughter! As tired as I am, I really am looking forward to our next vacation with them... just give me a month or two and then, let the planning begin! :)

We loved having them all here! It was so fun to see our kids play with their cousins from Minnesota; Isaac (18 months), Mariah (almost 5 years) and Estella (6 years). Of course, I have tons of photos, which I'll share with you soon... until then, here's a photo of Erin and I as we braved the grocery store with all five kids!

I kept thinking of my mom and how she managed 10 kids... I mean, how did she do it? Wow! Thanks for all you did mom!

Update on Elena

Elena seems to be perking up, but she did not feel up to going to school today. "One more day Mommy, just one more day", as she curled up under the covers.

She has been playing more and seems to have a bit more energy. When I see her bouncing around the house I become aware of my anxiety level and it eases a bit. When she's feeling good, she rarely walks anywhere, she bounces around a bit like Tigger.

She hasn't felt well for many months. She has good days and then needs several days to recuperate. As a parent, it has been draining, not knowing what to do, not knowing what is wrong... We (and the Doctor's) believe it's allergies, click here to read more.

She has been sleeping a lot. This week-end she slept til 10:00 one day and 11:00 the next day. Typically, she never sleeps in no matter what time she goes to bed. Even when bedtime was set really early, she would still lie in bed for hours, (having a terrible time falling asleep due to the congestion) and then be wide awake at 7:00 a.m.

The antihistamine that she's taking can make her sleepy. I am hopeful that she is finally getting the rest that she needs, I am hopeful that her body is transitioning into a healing phase.

We want to thank you for praying for her. We are hopeful with the progress that we've seen. We are thankful for the doctors and medicine that we have access to. We are thankful that we can share our concerns with you. We are thankful for good friends and family. We are thankful to have a mighty Physician to call upon and ask for healing. We are thankful for Jesus. We are thankful for hope. We are thankful for our little pumpkin.
