Listen to your mother-in-law...

Yesterday I ran all around the countryside running errands. At my last stop I spotted the most beautiful red, heart-shapped baking dish and the % off was high enough that I couldn't pass it up, it was now $4.99. I didn't need it, I flat out wanted it, so I went for it, the most beautiful red, heart-shaped baking dish was mine. I drove home with hopes of getting my treasures (you know food and stuff) all put away before my kids got off the school bus. As I opened the door of the car, I watched in slow motion as the plastic bag filled with my cucumbers and my beautiful heart-shaped baking dish came crashing to the ground. It was broken, my most beautiful red, heart-shaped baking dish was broken. My heart sank.

I got the rest of the groceries in. I whined about it on facebook. I whined about it over the phone to my mother-in-law. Cuz, afterall the bag boy that put it in the bag, put it in one layer of plastic with other groceries and had put it in my car. It's sort of his fault. She's savvy, my mother-in-law, she's savvy. She suggested calling the store, tell them what happened and then I would just know for sure if they would do anything to fix my broken heart. So, I called and in my most sad voice ever I told "Heather" what had happened and guess what Heather said!! She said, "Oh, I'm sorry that happened, bring your receipt and bring it to the customer service desk and we'll replace it for you!"  I mean, really? I was in shock! With my broken, most beautiful red, heart-shaped baking dish in tow, the kids and I went back to the store and there was Heather standing at the customer service desk with a smile. She got me a new dish, wrapped it very carefully in a brown paper bag and then informed me that she too loved the dish and she had purchased one last year. She made a pie in hers, and it turns out that it's kind of hard to cut a heart-shaped pie. I don't need to worry about that. I don't know how to make a pie anyways. I'm not sure what I'll make in it. I'm just happy to look at it. It's so pretty.

All of that to say;
1. I got my most beautiful red, heart-shaped baking dish replaced! Yay!
2. Heather at Safeway in Hood River, OR - your customer service was beyond what I would have expected!
3. Listen to your mother-in-law! She's savvy, she's so savvy.

And one more thing, I think Dictionary.com forgot one thing in their definition of savvy.
